OUR STORY- A Simple Pleasure
It all started 38 years ago in Portugal, with a dream and a deep love for chocolate. After a trip to Paris, Chef Carlos Braz Lopes was inspired to create something truly special - a chocolate cake unlike any other. Determined to perfect his recipe, he spent thousands of hours refining every detail, balancing rich flavours with delicate textures. Then, in 1987, the magic happened. His masterpiece was born, and he began serving it at his restaurant, Mercado de Santa Clara. The response? PURE JOY!
Word spread quickly, and in 2002, Carlos opened the first official The Best Chocolate Cake In The World shop in Lisbon. From that moment, the cake’s journey went global. Today, you can find it in Portugal, Australia, the United States, Spain, Brazil, Angola, and Panama, delighting chocolate lovers everywhere.
Here in Australia, we’ve been sharing this delicious cake since 2011 at Westfield Warringah Mall - one bite, and you’ll understand why it’s loved across the globe.
